Pt Solid Gold Berjangka ~ Minyak memperpanjang kenaikan di atas $ 49 per barel karena data pemerintah AS yang menunjukkan penurunan tak terduga stok minyak mentah, penurunan pertama tahun ini.

Minyak berjangka naik sebanyak 0,7 persen di New York setelah menguat 2,4 persen pada Kamis kemarin, kenaikan terbaik dalam lebih dari dua bulan. Stok minyak mentah turun 237.000 barel pekan lalu, menurut laporan Energy Information Administration. Sebuah survei Bloomberg memperkirakan ekspansi mingguan ke-10. Pasar minyak masih berjuang untuk mengurangi lonjakan pasokan dari OPEC pada akhir tahun lalu, menurut Badan Energi Internasional.

Oil extended gains above $49 a barrel as U.S. government data showed an unexpected fall in crude stockpiles, the first decline this year.

Futures rose as much as 0.7 percent in New York after advancing 2.4 percent on Thursday, the most in more than two months. Crude stockpiles dropped by 237,000 barrels last week, according to an Energy Information Administration report. A Bloomberg survey had forecast a 10th weekly expansion. Oil markets are still struggling to clear a surge in supply from OPEC at the end of last year, according to the International Energy Agency.

West Texas Intermediate for April delivery rose as much as 34 cents to $49.20 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange and was at $49.09 at 7:48 a.m. in Hong Kong. Total volume traded was about 37 percent below the 100-day average. Prices climbed $1.14 to close at $48.86 on Wednesday, snapping a seven-day decline.

Brent for May settlement advanced 89 cents, or 1.8 percent, to $51.81 a barrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange on Wednesday. The global benchmark crude ended the session at a premium of $2.43 to May WTI.
