Minyak menuju penurunan bulanan terbesar dalam satu tahun menyusul meluapnya stok minyak mentah dan stok bahan bakar sehingga menahan pemulihan harga.

Futures turun sebanyak 0,5 persen di New York, jatuh 15 persen untuk bulanan. Stok minyak mentah AS naik untuk pertama kalinya naik sejak Mei sementara stok bensin bertambah sampai 22 Juli lalu sehingga membengkakan surplus stok yang saat ini berada di tingkat musiman tertinggi dalam setidaknya dua dekade. Pelabuhan minyak terbesar Libya dibuka kembali setelah perselisihan dengan penjaga di fasilitas itu diselesaikan.

West Texas Intermediate untuk pengiriman September melemah 19 sen ke level $ 40,95 per barel di New York Mercantile Exchange dan berada di level $ 41,08 pada pukul 08:48 pagi waktu Hong Kong. Kontrak turun 1,9 persen ke level $ 41,14 pada hari Kamis, yang merupakan penutupan terendah sejak 19 April. Jumlah volume perdagangan yakni sekitar 37 persen di bawah rata-rata 100-hari. Oil headed for the biggest monthly decline in a year as brimming crude and fuel inventories stifle a price recovery.

Futures dropped as much as 0.5 percent in New York, down 15 percent for the month. U.S. crude inventories rose for the first time since May while gasoline stockpiles expanded through July 22, swelling a surplus of supplies that are at the highest seasonal level in at least two decades. Libya�s biggest oil ports are reopening after a dispute with guards at the facilities was settled.

West Texas Intermediate for September delivery lost as much as 19 cents to $40.95 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange and was at $41.08 at 8:48 a.m. Hong Kong time. The contract fell 1.9 percent to $41.14 on Thursday, the lowest close April 19. Total volume traded was about 37 percent below the 100-day average. The monthly drop is the biggest since July 2015.

Brent for September settlement, which expires Friday, dropped 1 cent to $42.69 a barrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange. Prices are down 14 percent this month, the most since December. The more-active October contract added 1 cent to $43.24. The global benchmark traded at a premium of $1.63 to WTI for September.
