Pt Solid Gold Berjangka ~ Penguatan Minyak Di Atas $ 51 Terhenti

Oils rebound above $51 a barrel stalled as increasing U.S. crude production and record stockpiles countered optimism around a possible extension of OPEC-led output cuts.

Futures slid 0.5 percent in New York, erasing Wednesdays 0.2 percent advance. U.S. production rose for a seventh week and inventories expanded to a fresh record, according to government data. Still, if the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries continue to reduce supply past June, prices should climb to$55 a barrel, said Pioneer Natural Resources Co. Chairman Scott Sheffield.

Oil is trading back above $50 a barrel after some OPEC nations supported an extension to the six-month deal with non-member countries. The groups Secretary-General Mohammad Barkindo said Sunday that hes cautiously optimistic that the market is already rebalancing, even as U.S. explorers boost the drill rig count to the highest since September 2015.

U.S. output is a headwind as it continues to rise and thats stopping the price from extending gains, said David Lennox, a resource analyst at Fat Prophets in Sydney. Still, the OPEC cuts are preventing oil from sinking to $45.

West Texas Intermediate for May delivery was at $50.87 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, down 28 cents, at 8:46 a.m. in Hong Kong. Total volume traded was about 66 percent below the 100-day average. The contract gained 12 cents to $51.15 on Wednesday. Prices dropped below $50 early last month for the first time since December.

Brent for June settlement lost 27 cents, or 0.5 percent, to $54.09 a barrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange. Prices advanced 19 cents to $54.36 Wednesday. The global benchmark traded at a premium of $2.77 to WTI.
