Oil held gains above $51 a barrel as weekly industry data showed U.S. crude stockpiles declined, trimming an inventory overhang.

Futures were little changed in New York after rising 1.6 percent on Tuesday. Supplies dropped by 1.83 million barrels last week, the American Petroleum Institute was said to report.
