Minyak berjangka turun sebanyak 0,6 persen di New York. Analis dari BNP Paribas SA untuk JBC Energy GmbH memperingatkan bahwa harga dapat jatuh ke $ 40 per barel di tengah melimpahnya pasokan global dan permintaan yang melemah. Minyak mentah naik pada hari Kamis karena pasar saham menguat di seluruh dunia dan greenback melemah terhadap sebagian besar rekan-rekannya, membuat bahan baku yang berdenominasi dalam mata uang lebih menarik bagi investor.

Oil fell in New York amid forecasts crude may slide toward $40 a barrel on oversupply concerns.

Futures fell as much as 0.6 percent in New York. Analysts from BNP Paribas SA to JBC Energy GmbH warned prices may sink towards $40 a barrel amid a global glut of supply and weakening demand. Crude rose on Thursday as stock markets gained worldwide and the greenback declined against most of its peers, making raw materials denominated in the currency more appealing to investors.

West Texas Intermediate crude for August delivery fell as much as 27 cents to $45.41 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange and traded at $45.44 at 7:15 a.m. Tokyo time. The grade rose 93 cents to settle at $45.68 on Thursday.

Brent for September settlement increased $1.11, or 2.4 percent, to $47.37 a barrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange on Thursday. The global benchmark crude closed at a 95-cent premium to WTI for September delivery.
