HSBC Holdings Plc dan Standard Chartered Plc jatuh seiring merosotnya pound Inggris mengancam pendapatan bagi perusahaan dengan yang berhubungan ke negara.

Indeks Hang Seng naik 0,2 persen pada pukul 09:53 waktu setempat, setelah jatuh 1,8 persen dan memperoleh gain 0,8 persen. HSBC berbasis di London, yang memiliki bobot terbesar kedua di indeks, turun 1 persen dan Standard Chartered merosot 2,3 persen, sedangkan perusahaan utilitas meraih kenaikan. Sterling mengalami pelemahan tertajam sejak 2008 menyusul hasil awal mengindikasikan pemilih condong untuk ke arah meninggalkan Uni Eropa.

Indeks Hang Seng naik ke level 20,881.01, menambah kenaikan lima hari nya menjadi 4,1 persen. Hong Kong telah membuat persiapan dan memiliki likuiditas yang cukup untuk menghadapi hasil apa pun dalam referendum Brexit,

Hong Kong stocks swung between gains and losses as poll results for the U.K. referendum on European Union membership were announced. HSBC Holdings Plc and Standard Chartered Plc declined as the British pound slumped, threatening earnings for companies with links to the country.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.2 percent at 9:53 a.m. local time, after falling 1.8 percent and gaining 0.8 percent. London-based HSBC, which has the second-largest weighting on the gauge, slid 1 percent and Standard Chartered slumped 2.3 percent, while utility companies advanced. Sterling sank the most since 2008 as early results suggested voters leaning towards leaving the bloc.

The Hang Seng Index rose to 20,881.01, adding to a five-day, 4.1 percent advance. Hong Kong has made preparations and has adequate liquidity for whatever the result is of the Brexit vote,

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index, a measure of mainland companies traded in Hong Kong, retreated 0.5 percent. The Shanghai Composite Index, the worst performer globally this year, dropped 0.1 percent.
